Description Some 1,100 SPA wagons were built between 1979 and 1981 to carry steel plate wagon. Whilst some later found themselves in departmental use which resulted in a change of TOPS code, by 2005 the number of SPAs still in service stood at 681, 200 of which carried departmental TOPS codes.
